WHAT MATERIALS DO YOU WORK WITH?
There is nothing more important to us than satisfaction of our customers. Therefore, we use durable and safe materials such as 925 sterling silver and stainless steel as base metals of our jewelry. Most products in our store are high quality 18K and 14K gold-plated. All the products are nickel and lead free, which are known to be cheap, low-quality metals that can cause irritation.
IS YOUR JEWELRY WATERPROOF?
We are proud to say that our jewelry does not tarnish or color your skin. However, gold plating might lose its shine or fade over time if exposed to water, lotions, perfumes, chemicals, sweat or any excessive moisture.
WILL I HAVE A PROBLEM OF A “GREEN FINGER”?
Green finger is a tint on your skin, tracing the line of a jewelry piece after wearing it. This is a chemical reaction of the air and copper, which is added in tiny amounts to gold plating. Pure gold and silver are naturally very soft materials and copper makes these metals last longer. Usually, the materials that we use (stainless steel, 925 silver, 14/18K gold and platinum) will not cause “green finger” effect. On rare occasions, some people might have higher acidic pH level of their skin which causes oxidation of the material and may leave a stain under the ring. This is not a sign of an allergic reaction or any harmful chemicals in a product and can be experienced after wearing even the finest, high quality jewelry.
If you happen to notice such sensitivity, there is nothing wrong with that. Our advice would be to opt for jewelry made of pure platinum or stainless steel that are known to be less reactive with your skin type. If you already purchased a piece which might cause a green finger, please follow our easy steps on how to minimise the issue in our “How do I look after my jewelry?” section.
An easy way to remove the coloring on your skin is to apply rubbing alcohol or makeup remover to a cotton pad and wipe down the affected area. You can cover your ring with a thin layer of clear nail polish from the inside. This will create a barrier between your skin and the metal.
WHAT IS CUBIC ZIRCONIA AND HOW SPARKLY ARE YOUR PRODUCTS?
Cubic Zirconia (CZ) is a stone which, comparatively to diamonds, has a much lower level of hardness and is artificially created, while diamonds are made by Mother Nature.
Luckily, it is hard for a naked eye to tell the difference between these two stones. Diamonds are forever, but Cubic Zirconia tends to cloud up after about 2 years of a regular wear which makes it a tremendously more affordable material to work with and does not break the bank.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN QUALITIES OF STAINLESS STEEL AND 925 STERLING SILVER?
Both metals are great but yet different in their advantages. Stainless steel is considerably harder and stronger than silver. It lasts longer thanks to its rust and corrosion resistance, as well as being tarnish-free. Silver tends to scratch easier than stainless steel and needs to be polished with a cloth once in a while. However, silver is considered to be a fine metal, thus has a higher monetary value on market. Silver also has got more shine to it, comparatively to stainless steel.
HOW DO I LOOK AFTER MY JEWELRY?
We are thrilled to say that the quality of our jewelry will not leave you disappointed. Nevertheless, such durable materials as sterling silver and stainless steel can experience normal wear and tear signs over time. Gold plated pieces must be handled with care to preserve their shine. For this reason, we prepared a few useful steps to extend the life of your jewelry to as long as you love wearing it.
- Avoid bathing, swimming or washing your hands with jewelry on and dry your skin well before wearing it.
- Avoid contact with face creams, body lotions or oils as those often contain chemicals that may discolor the plating.
- It is best to keep your jewelry in a cloth pouch and away from humidity. A pouch which comes with any of your orders would be ideal and will protect your treasures from oxidation or scratching.
- Avoid spraying perfume over your jewelry.
- Remember, if you get a “green finger” after wearing a product (see our “Will I have a problem with a “green finger?” section), this is not a sign of a poor quality or harmful reaction. You can cover your ring with a thin layer of clear nail polish from the inside. This will create a barrier between your skin and the metal. Additionally, follow the steps above and the problem is solved!
- Apply a layer of polymer coating on the inside of your rings. This step is not a “must” but would be helpful in case you experience “green finger” effect due to a high pH level of your skin.
WHAT IF THE PRODUCT IS DAMAGED?
We carefully inspect each item before shipping it to you. If, on a very rare occasion, your jewelry was defected during the shipment, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and our team will find the best way to better your experience. We offer a 14-day exchange from the date of delivery. Please inform us as soon as you find the product damaged/faulty with your order number, the fault item and photo evidence and our team will assist accordingly.
WHAT IF I ORDERED A WRONG RING SIZE?
Before ordering rings, please check our Ring Sizer Guide to make sure we get it right. If the ring you ordered doesn’t fit, we will be happy to exchange it. To do so, please follow the steps below:
- Please email us at email@example.com and let us know about the item you wish to exchange, the size you require and order number.
- We will ask you to ship the item that didn’t fit. There will be a $5 return fee to cover shipment. We do not refund shipment fees for returns.
- Products must be in their original packaging, not be worn and kept in a resellable condition. If we discover that a product has been worn, we will send it back to you.
- Please keep your proof of postage in case your parcel gets lost in transit.
- Parcels will be processed 1-5 business days of receiving the return/exchange.
WHAT PRODUCTS ARE NOT EXCHANGEABLE/REFUNDABLE?
Please note we cannot refund or exchange earrings due to hygiene reasons and in order to protect health of our customers.
All sales are final on permanently discounted or marked down products.
However, we are able to refund such items if they are faulty or damaged upon arrival.
We do not accept items with removed tags, those that were worn, or both.
WHAT IF I DON’T LIKE THE PRODUCT?
Sometimes things just don’t work out and that’s alright. We are here to help you with your return/exchange. Any unworn merchandise in its original packaging you would like to return for a refund/exchange must be sent back to Ugly Pearl within 14 business days of receipt of product. If we discover that the product was worn, it will be not eligible for a refund. Return shipping is non-refundable.
WHAT TO DO WHEN AN ITEM(S) FROM MY ORDER IS MISSING?
Please contact us right away at firstname.lastname@example.org for a replacement of the missing item. Kindly, let us know your order number, the missing item and also attach photo evidence of the packaging so that we can determine if the product was stolen by a 3rd party or if we had missed the item from your order. We will also check the weight of the parcel against the weight of the items. Our team will usually find the most suitable solution for such instance.
I DID NOT GET AN ORDER CONFIRMATION EMAIL OR ORDER NUMBER
There is a slight chance you entered a typo in your email address or used invalid email. In any case, please reach out to us at email@example.com with your full name, address and an alternative email so we can find your order and re-send you your confirmation.
WHAT IF I ENTERED THE WRONG ADDRESS IN MY SHIPMENT DETAILS?
Things happen. If you accidentally entered the wrong address while placing your order, please contact us right away at firstname.lastname@example.org for our team to change your details. If your order has already been shipped, we cannot change or re-route your product and you will not be eligible for a refund. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure all details are correct before purchase.
CAN I CANCEL MY ORDER?
Please note, if you wish to cancel, you have to contact us at email@example.com within 2 hours of placing your order. Even though it is a responsibility of the customer to ensure they are satisfied with the online content presented before making a purchase, our team will do their best to assist you before the product is shipped. If the product was shipped already, we will not be able to cancel or refund it.
